The Concept Behind the Museum of Emotions

The Museum Of Emotions competition explores the tension between two primary emotions through innovative architectural design. As visitors approach this imaginary museum, they encounter a scene inspired by ancient classical architecture. The journey begins with a classical avenue of trees, leading to the focal point: a striking pink classical doorframe. This doorframe, both in color and size, contrasts sharply with the lightweight texture of the flowing curtains inside. Flanking the entrance are two golden KAWS statues, providing a contemporary twist on the traditional lion guardians of classical buildings.

Immersive Experience Inside the Museum of Emotions Tent

As you enter the museum’s tent, you are transported to a realm reminiscent of the magical allure of shadow theatre and the cosy nostalgia of childhood blanket forts. The dimly lit space is alive with the flickering dance of shadows, evoking a sense of mystery and wonder that echoes the enchanting tales woven in the shadow theatres of old. The atmosphere is one of intimacy and whimsy, inviting visitors to explore and immerse themselves in the imaginative world within.

Contrasting Realities in the Museum of Emotions Garden

Emerging from the tent into the museum’s garden area, a stark contrast in atmosphere greets you. The once enchanting tent now appears as a humble refugee camp shelter amidst the solemn ruins of the museum’s façade. The transition from the cosy space of the tent to the haunting ambience of the garden reflects a shift in perspective, challenging visitors to confront the duality of reality and perception. Here, in the contrast between ruin and idyllic scenery, the boundaries between safety and vulnerability are blurred, prompting reflection on the fluid nature of home and refuge in a world of contrasting realities.
